OUR EDUCATIONAL PODS

Our classroom PODs are organized by different subjects and various types of experience. Research has shown that participants in full-day strengths-based programs often achieve higher standardized test scores in the future, and generally excel in school. In addition, they develop strong social skills as they engage in more confident child-to-child interactions and develop their interpersonal skills. By laying the right foundation for your child’s success in these early years, you can prime them for accomplishing great academic strides for years to come!

TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN

TK POD (4.8 years by Sept. 1st)

Transitional kindergarten serves as a bridge between preschool and kindergarten, functioning to provide students with time to develop fundamental skills needed for success in Kindergarten and beyond in a developmentally-appropriate setting.

KINDERGARTEN

K POD (5 years by Sept. 1st)

Kindergarten is an exciting transition as young learners blend the playing, singing, and craft-making from preschool with more writing, reading, and math lessons. Kindergartners practice working together in groups to build teamwork and sharing skills — and learn how to be successful students for years to come.

FIRST GRADE

1st POD (6 years by Sept. 1st)

First Grade is a significant transition to more extensive learning! We will focus on a Balanced 4 Core Curriculum and SO much More!

  1. Language Arts: Building reading skills is an essential part of a first grader’s learning process and academic success down the road. First grade is that magical time in which your child progresses from simply writing words to becoming a “writer,” and her spelling skills will improve!

  2. Math: Students continue to develop their addition and subtraction skills in 1st grade, through math tools and manipulatives such as blocks, tiles, and different shapes are used to help students practice using concrete, visible objects.

  3. Science: Students are taught to observe, ask questions, and record their observations and answers. Science lessons often overlap with math and literacy as teachers use books, graphs, and measurement to help students learn.

  4. Social Studies: Students begin to explore their communities and the world around them more deeply, enhancing their research skills, general knowledge of the world around them, and ability to compare and contrast different groups.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Exceeding Expectations

Entertaining: You will not be bored! Our speakers are interesting, relevant, and funny. Information is illustrated through years of experience in a most humorous way. Whether discussing curriculum, collaboration, budgets or balance, and all strategies in between, we promise to make it FUN!

Engaging: Your voice matters! Each participant will be actively involved throughout the workshop. Small group discussion is key, allowing for the sharing of craft knowledge from colleagues. Coming together as a whole then gives each participant the opportunity to gain knowledge from others in the field.

Enlightening: You will leave enlightened! Our speakers work hard to ensure that each topic is relevant to the day-to-day experiences of educators, allowing each participant to gain knowledge that can be used immediately. Through the formulation of ideas and solutions, each participant leaves the professional development workshop with a plan for implementation in the educational setting.
